Auvyra

Trademark and copyright rules

Auvyra is owned by SkyBlox Systems LTD. Anyone can use it, fork it and customize it for free, and the product keeps the name Auvyra.

This page explains the rules in plain language. The license is the legal text, and it takes priority if the two ever disagree.

Who owns what

WhatWho owns it
Auvyra's code and documentationSkyBlox Systems LTD, licensed to everyone under the Auvyra License
The name Auvyra, the Auvyra logo and the line "Your station. Your sound. Your platform."SkyBlox Systems LTD, which claims them as trademarks
Your station's name, logo, content and dataYou. SkyBlox Systems LTD claims nothing in them
Open-source packages that Auvyra usesTheir own authors, under their own licenses

Auvyra integrates with AzuraCast, but it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the AzuraCast project.

What you can do

You do not need to ask to do any of these:

  • Run Auvyra for your station, for free, for any purpose, including commercial ones
  • Put your own station's name, logo and colors on your website, and turn off the "Powered by Auvyra" credit
  • Fork Auvyra and change anything in the code
  • Share your fork with others, or sell it, as long as you follow the rules below
  • Charge for hosting, setting up or customizing Auvyra, as long as it is clear that the service comes from you

The name stays Auvyra

You can fork Auvyra, but you cannot rename it. Your fork must keep the product name Auvyra wherever the software shows it, including the dashboard, the setup wizard and the documentation, and you must offer it under that name.

Your station's own name is not the product name. A station called Night Harbor FM runs its website on Auvyra, and it stays Night Harbor FM.

Copying a few files or components into a different product is also fine. Keep the copyright notice, and do not present that product as Auvyra.

If you share a modified version

If you give or offer a changed version to anyone else, say clearly that it is modified, who modified it, and that it is not an official release from SkyBlox Systems LTD. Do this wherever you offer it and in its documentation. For example:

Auvyra, modified by Example Radio. This is not an official release from SkyBlox Systems LTD.

If you only run your changes on your own station, you do not need to label anything.

Keep the copyright notice and the license with every copy, and in any substantial part you reuse. You can add your own copyright notice for the changes you make.

Fine without askingNeeds written permission from SkyBlox Systems LTD
Saying your station runs on AuvyraCalling your fork or service "official", "certified", "Pro", "Plus" or "Enterprise"
Writing guides, reviews or videos about AuvyraUsing Auvyra in a company, station, domain, app or social media name
Saying something works with AuvyraSelling merchandise with the name or logo
Using the unchanged logo to link to AuvyraRegistering the name, the logo or anything similar anywhere
Keeping the name and logo as they ship in the codeChanging the logo, or making a similar one for a fork

Never suggest that SkyBlox Systems LTD made, endorsed or supports your fork or your service when it did not.

Is this open source?

Auvyra's code is public, and it is free to use, change and share. The naming rule is one small limit on top of the MIT License, so the Auvyra License is not on the Open Source Initiative's approved list and should not be described as the MIT License.

Updates and support

SkyBlox Systems LTD maintains the official version of Auvyra, publishes updates to it, and offers help where it is needed through the official repository at github.com/SkyBlox-Systems/Auvyra.

Security problems should be reported privately, as described in the security policy.

Support covers the official version. If you run a fork, its maker is your first stop, and we may ask you to reproduce a problem on the official version.

Auvyra comes with no warranty, as the license says. This is our commitment to looking after the project, not a service contract or a guaranteed response time.

Contributing

If you contribute to the official repository, you keep the copyright in your work and license it under the Auvyra License, so SkyBlox Systems LTD can include it in Auvyra.

Asking for permission

To ask about anything on this page, open an issue on the official repository. A permission only counts if it is in writing from SkyBlox Systems LTD.

These rules may change as the project grows. A change does not take away rights you already have in a copy you received under an earlier license.
